PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS

Wisely or otherwise, I find that I have become the Patron of a local Thai Tamnak, on the outskirts of Bangkok. It’s something like a Center for Seers or Divination.

When Thais feel they need advice about all sorts of things, from business, to family life, to perceived problems such as haunting, magical attack or possession, to love, they have no qualms about consulting someone they feel can “look into the cards” (or whatever system they use) and offer useful advice or words of caution, concerning both present and future.

This form of Divination bares little resemblance to the Gypsy Rose Lee type fortune tellers at the end of the Western fun-fair, whose motives and skills may be rightly regarded with skepticism (at least until proven otherwise!)

The tradition in the East is based on Ancient Buddhist Precepts, mixed with a hotch-potch of Hindu and Animist beliefs, and has its firm Believers in all walks of life, from the poorest farm or factory workers, to the Owners of TV companies and Captains of Industry.

Indeed, I’m told that senior Army Generals, are often themselves very skilled at Divination, especially with reference to the most favorable times to enter into or withdraw from conflict.

Insofar as I have any latent talent in this area, I am beginning the study of various techniques used by, and the modeling of these Seers, with a view to being able to offer personal and private one-on-one sessions for discussion, insight, even enlightenment, as well as suggestions as to how one might improve one’s life, one’s hope of reaching one’s goals or aspirations, feeling generally happier, even perhaps of ways to improve one’s luck…

Forcing the Hand of Chance, as it were. Well, maybe not “forcing”… more like “guiding”…or maybe “licking”? :-)
